Abstract

Islam has profoundly influenced the development of art and culture worldwide. Islamic legal principles have shaped the design and decoration of mosques, ensuring that architectural elements, such as calligraphy and geometric patterns, align with religious and aesthetic standards. Since the introduction of Islam to the Archipelago in the 13th century, there has been significant acculturation between Islamic teachings and local traditions. This article explores the influence of Islamic law on art and culture in Indonesia, highlighting how legal principles have guided local adaptations. Using a library research method, the study reveals that Islamic law, with its emphasis on beauty, balance, and ethical norms, has shaped various forms of art, including architecture, calligraphy, music, literature, and traditional customs. The research underscores how Islamic law has been a source of inspiration and innovation, shaping cultural identities globally.
