Author Guidelines

GENERAL GUIDELINES

  1. Articles must be original (not plagiarism) and have never been published in another journal. If the article has previously been presented in seminars, workshops, or similar academic activities, the author must clearly mention the name of the activity.
  2. Articles are written using Microsoft Word on A4 size paper with page margins: top 3 cm, left 3 cm, bottom 3 cm, and right 3 cm. The manuscript should be typed using 1.5 line spacing, with Gramound font size 12, and formatted in a single-column layout.
  3. Tables, charts, and figures must be embedded properly in the text by adjusting spacing through the “add space before/after paragraph” feature to ensure readability and consistency.
  4. Authors must submit their manuscript in Microsoft Word (DOC) or Rich Text Format (RTF).
  5. The Title and Abstract must be written in both Indonesian and English, while the full manuscript may be written in either Indonesian or English.

STRUCTURE OF PAPER

The manuscript should range between 4,500 to 7,000 words and must be written systematically according to the following structure:

  1. Title: Written concisely and informatively, with a maximum of 15 words (single-spaced), reflecting the core substance of the article.
  2. Name of Author: Written without academic titles; authors may be individuals or collaborative teams.
  3. Affiliation: Clearly state the institutional affiliation.
  4. Email Address: Placed directly under the author's name.
  5. Abstract: 200–250 words in one paragraph. For review articles, it should summarize the core discussion, while for research articles it should include objectives, methods, and results.
  6. Keywords: Several terms representing the essential concepts of the study.
Main Body of Manuscript:
  • Introduction: Provides academic background, literature review, novelty or research gap, and significance of the study (2–3 pages, without subsections).
  • Methods: Describes research type, approach, data sources, and analytical methods, including the mechanism used to analyze sharia issues. This section is required for original research articles.
  • Result and Discussion: Presents findings in structured subchapters along with analytical discussion.
  • Conclusion: Summarizes key findings without repeating earlier explanations.
  • References: Lists all cited works.

REFERENCE & CITATION RULES

Reference/Bibliography: Must include all cited sources and should prioritize relevant and up-to-date references (preferably within the last 10 years).

  1. Direct quotations exceeding four lines must be separated from the main text, single-spaced, using font size 10. Short quotations should be integrated within the text using double quotation marks.
  2. Each citation must be numbered.
  3. The citation system uses Footnotes based on the Chicago Manual of Style 17th Edition (Full Note).
  4. Qur’an citation format: (Qs. Al Mumin [40]: 43). Hadith citation: (H.R. al-Bukhari and Muslim), including reference to printed sources.
  5. Authors are required to use citation management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or similar tools.

RESEARCH NOTES

The Research Notes section provides a platform for researchers to communicate research-in-progress or recently completed studies. This section supports academic exchange and dissemination of preliminary findings that may not yet warrant full-article publication.

The manuscript should briefly situate the study within relevant scholarship and highlight its contribution or ongoing research direction. The maximum length is 1,000 words, excluding references and limited tables or figures.

Authors must include contact information such as a brief biography, institutional address, email, and other communication details. Submissions will be evaluated based on clarity, logic, organization, and adherence to journal guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria will not be considered for revision.

REVIEW ARTICLE GUIDELINES

Review articles focus on theoretical and literature-based studies within the scope of Nusantara: Journal of Law Studies, particularly in contemporary legal issues in the Asia-Pacific region.

The journal promotes scholarly dialogue on legal theory, practice, and reform, emphasizing interactions between law and socio-cultural, religious, and political contexts.

  • Law Studies: legal theory, comparative law, contemporary reforms
  • Islamic Law: family law, economic law, criminal law, siyasah, maqasid
  • Human Rights and Social Justice: gender justice, minority rights
  • Environmental and Regulatory Law: governance and policy
  • Technology and Law: digital law, cybersecurity, AI ethics

Manuscripts may be written in Indonesian or English with a maximum length of 7,000 words.
