Nusantara: Journal of Law Studies (JUNA) was established in 2022 under the management of the Islamic Research Publisher in collaboration with the Faculty of Sharia, Universitas Islam Zainul Hasan Probolinggo, Indonesia. Since the publication of its first issue — Volume 1, Number 1 (December 2022) — JUNA has grown rapidly and positioned itself as an emerging international journal in the field of law. Published twice a year (in July and December), JUNA consistently features high-quality academic articles that address contemporary legal issues from multidisciplinary perspectives, both at the national and global levels.
One of JUNA’s major strengths lies in its commitment to internationalization. Within a relatively short period, the journal has successfully attracted authors and editors from various countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey, Nigeria, and Jordan. This diversity has created an academic forum rich in cross-cultural and comparative legal perspectives, making JUNA a dynamic and inclusive platform for scholarly exchange. Moreover, the use of official DOIs via Zenodo enhances global visibility and ensures that every article is properly indexed and easily accessible to the international research community.
From the publication management perspective, JUNA employs the Open Journal Systems (OJS 3) platform and implements a double-blind peer review process to guarantee the quality and impartiality of each submission. As an Open Access journal licensed under Creative Commons Attribution–ShareAlike 4.0, all published articles are freely available to readers worldwide, expanding the journal’s academic reach and impact. Publications are presented in both English and Indonesian, promoting broader accessibility and facilitating global scholarly communication.
Another key advantage of JUNA is its adaptive thematic focus, which responds to emerging trends and challenges in legal studies. The journal covers a wide range of topics, including Islamic law, economic law, human rights, gender justice, digital law, environmental law, and public policy. This broad yet coherent scope makes JUNA not only an academic publication but also a medium for dialogue between legal theory and social practice in a rapidly changing world.
Under the leadership of Wahyu Abdul Jafar, M.HI. as Editor-in-Chief and supported by a professional editorial team, JUNA continues to strengthen its reputation as a progressive and globally engaged law journal. In a relatively short time, it has evolved into a respected platform for disseminating innovative ideas on law and justice while embodying the spirit of “Nusantara” — a symbol of openness, diversity, and intellectual advancement in contemporary legal scholarship.
