Authorship and Contributorship
Authorship and Contributorship Policy
Terabit: Journal of Informatics and Computing adheres to the principles of transparency and best practices in scholarly publishing as outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), the Open Access Scholarly Publishing Association (OASPA), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).
This policy defines the criteria for authorship and contributorship to ensure clear, accurate, and transparent attribution of contributions to published works. As an open-access journal under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), authors retain copyright of their work while granting broad permissions for distribution and reuse.
Criteria for Authorship
Authorship should be based on substantial contributions to the research. To qualify as an author, individuals must meet all of the following criteria:
- Substantial Contributions: Significant involvement in the conception, design, data acquisition, analysis, interpretation, or drafting and revising of the manuscript.
- Approval of Final Version: All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript before publication.
- Accountability: Authors must take responsibility for the content and be able to defend the work when necessary.
Contributorship Statement
To promote transparency, the journal may require a contributorship statement specifying the role of each author in the research and manuscript preparation. This statement ensures clarity of individual contributions.
Dispute Resolution
In cases of authorship disputes, the editorial board will follow a structured and fair process. Authors may be required to provide evidence of their contributions. The journal may consult COPE guidelines or other relevant bodies to ensure impartial resolution. The journal is not responsible for resolving personal disputes beyond the scope of publication ethics.
Changes in Authorship
Requests for adding, removing, or rearranging authors after submission will only be considered in exceptional cases. Such requests must be supported by written consent from all authors and a clear explanation of the changes. The editorial board will evaluate the request carefully.
Honorary and Ghost Authorship
Honorary (gift) authorship and ghost authorship are not permitted. Individuals who do not meet the authorship criteria should not be listed as authors but may be acknowledged appropriately.
Conflict of Interest Disclosure
Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may influence the interpretation of their research. Full transparency is required to maintain the credibility of the publication.
Compliance with Ethical Standards
Authors must comply with ethical standards in research and publication, including proper citation, permission for copyrighted materials, and ethical treatment of human or animal subjects where applicable.
Policy Review
This policy will be periodically reviewed and updated to align with evolving best practices in scholarly publishing.
