Transparency, Accountability, and Ethical Integrity in Scholarly Publishing
Nusantara Education is committed to upholding the highest standards of transparency, integrity, and ethical conduct in academic publishing. This policy outlines the definition, identification, and management of conflicts of interest for all stakeholders, including authors, reviewers, editors, and publishers.
The journal adheres to internationally recognized standards, particularly the COPE Core Practices, to ensure fairness, objectivity, and accountability throughout the publication process.
A conflict of interest arises when financial, personal, professional, or academic relationships may influence—or be perceived to influence—objectivity, integrity, or decision-making in research and publication processes.
Identification of Conflicts of Interest
All parties involved in the publication process must disclose any potential conflicts of interest. These may include:
- Financial Interests: funding, employment, consultancy, stock ownership
- Personal Relationships: family ties or close personal connections
- Academic Relationships: collaborations or institutional affiliations
- Competing Affiliations: involvement with organizations having conflicting interests
- Intellectual Property: patents, copyrights, or related rights
Handling Conflicts of Interest
For Authors:
Authors must disclose all potential conflicts during submission. If identified after publication, they must notify the editorial board promptly for transparent resolution.
For Reviewers:
Reviewers should decline assignments where conflicts exist. Any conflict discovered during review must be reported immediately.
For Editors and Journal Staff:
Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where conflicts exist. Final decisions will be made by the editorial board to ensure impartiality.
For Publishers:
Publishers must ensure that editorial decisions are free from financial or competing influences and uphold independent scholarly judgment.
Transparency and Disclosure
All disclosed conflicts of interest will be presented alongside published articles, reviews, or editorials to ensure full transparency. The journal also enforces strict limitations on access to the editorial process for stakeholders who are directly involved as authors.
Nusantara Education periodically reviews and updates this policy to ensure alignment with international best practices. The journal remains committed to fostering a fair, transparent, and ethical publication environment that supports the credibility and integrity of global scholarly communication.
